Brother Rice High School has been the college preparatory high school
of choice for the finest young men in the metropolitan Detroit area
since 1960. The school was founded by the Congregation of Christian
Brothers and in the spirit of their founder, Brother Edmund Ignatius
Rice, continues to hold as its goal the development of each student
in mind, body, and spirit.

Brother Rice High School has provided excellent instruction and a
sound curriculum in preparing its students for university studies.
The SAT/ACT core curriculum is the model for our minimum graduation
requirements. In addition, students are required to take four years
if theology and complete Christian Service requirements.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Brother Rice has consistently
established composite scores in the American College Testing Program
in the top2-5% nationally. A typical Rice senior class will boast an
average of 11% of its members as being recognized by the National Merit
Program and each class has experienced an average of 95-99% of its members
attending colleges and universities. Brother Rice High School is accredited
and a member in good standing of North Central Association of Colleges
and Schools.

Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of school sponsored
extracurricular activities. Such participation fosters school spirit, as
well as individual maturation. We believe that one of the main reasons that
our students excel is that the character-building process is emphasized both
in and out of the classroom. It is one if the unique and special characteristics
that a Catholic school has the opportunity to accomplish.

In keeping with the tradition of developing students in mind, spirit and body,
Brother Rice has implemented an extensive sports program. Students are encouraged
to participate and learn the discipline of the game as well as sportsmanship and
teamwork. Many of our thirteen interscholastic teams have had phenomenal success.
Our students have brought many talents to Brother Rice, but our dedicated coaching
staff must also be credited for the responsibility they assume in developing each
student/athlete. Many of our coaches also teach. In the classroom they deliver
the message: Academics first, then athletics.

Brother Rice High School is a nationally recognized, Catholic, college preparatory
setting for young men. The hallmark of a Brother Rice education is the balanced pursuit
of academic and extracurricular excellence, in the context of a Catholic environment.
